BGR Energy Systems Ltd has won the contract of NTPC's 11x660 MW supercritical
boiler tender, as it has emerged as the lowest bidder in all the five
projects. The tender for supply of 660 MW supercritical boiler are for the
following five projects:
- Mouda Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-II (2x660 MW)
- Solapur Super Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW)
- Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (3x660 MW)
- Meja Thermal Power Project (2x660 MW)
- Raghunathpur Thermal Power Project, Phase-II (2x660 MW)
As per the tender, the company would be awarded the contract for three
projects valued at about

6,500 crore for supply of seven boilers. BGR
Energy has competed against BHEL and L&T who were the other qualified
bidders.
A joint venture of BGR Energy Systems Ltd and Hitachi Power Europe GmbH
will execute the contract. These contracts will be executed over 48 months
with delivery of components commencing from 10th month and
commissioning of boilers by 48 months. The contract term includes price
variation clause and foreign exchange variation clause.
This tender is part of Government of India's ambitious plans to add power
generation capacity in India by adopting environmentally superior supercritical
technology and with an objective to import and indigenise technology for
manufacture of supercritical boiler and steam turbine generator.
L&T Construction

L&T Construction has secured valued at over

2,760 crore across various
business segments in February and March, 2012.
The power transmission and distribution business won orders aggregating

514 crore from various clients. These include a major order from PGCIL for
construction of a 765kV double circuit transmission line from Varanasi to
Kanpur and 400kV double circuit lines from Varanasi to Sarnath and Sasaram
in Bihar to Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
The buildings and factories segment has been awarded orders worth

crore for construction of residential towers and also for civil, structural and
mechanical erection works for construction of a cement plant.
In the solar business unit, the company has secured an order worth

220
crore from a leading developer for construction of a 23-MW solar PV plant on
EPC basis in Rajasthan.
In another development, the infrastructure major has been awarded orders
valued at

121 crore from Kolkata Metro Rail for construction of a 2.7-km
viaduct from Madhyamgram to Hridaypur, including a station building at
Madhyamgram, and other related works in connection with the extension of
the metro railway from Noapara to Barasat in Kolkata.
The other orders are as follows:
671-crore order through the power transmission and distribution
segment, which include construction of an electrical balance of plant
works for a 2x660 MW super thermal power plant and from Gulbarga
Electricity Supply Company Ltd for various electrical works in Gulbarga
and Bidar districts in Karnataka.
579-crore order through the water and effluent treatment segment
from Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board for providing
combined water supply scheme to Attur-Narsingpuram municipalities
and Vellore Corporation.
204-crore order through the building and factories vertical for different
ongoing projects.
The other orders are

970 crore for construction of IT campus facility in Kolkata
and

170 crore from Oman Electricity Transmission Company Ltd for
replacing portions of the exisitng 220 & 132 kV OHLfrom Mawaleh to Seeb GS.
IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd

IL&FS Transportation Networks Ltd has emerged as the preferred bidder by
the National Highways Authority of India for construction of new
bridges/structures, repair of existing four lane highway from Kharagpur to
Baleshwar section of NH-60 from Km 0.000 to Km 119.300 in the State of
Odisha and West Bengal. The BOT (Toll) project under NHDP Phase I on
DBFOT Pattern includes operation and maintenance. The

471.05-crore
contract will have a concession period of 24 years including the construction
period of 2.5 years. The company has received a Letter of Award from NHAI
for the aforesaid project.
The company has also been issued a Letter of Award by the National Highways
Authority of India for four laning of Kiratpur-Ner-Chowk Section of NH-21 from
km 73.200 to km 186.500 in Himachal Pradesh. The BOT-Toll project under
NHDP Phase-III will be implemented on DBFOT basis. The project with a
concession period of 28 years, including construction period of three years, is
estimated to cost

1,818.47 crore. The company has formed Kiratpur Ner
Chowk Expressway Ltd, the special purpose vehicle, to execute the project.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd
Oil & Gas - Onshore drilling rigs,

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has secured a major contract for supply of
onshore drilling rigs from India's upstream oil company, Oil and Natural Gas
Corporation Ltd.
The order, valued at over

774 crore, is a testimony to the customer's
confidence in BHEL's capabilities and technological excellence. The order
envisages manufacture and supply of six numbers state-of-the-art 2000 HP
onshore drilling rigs with AC drives. For the above contract, the mechanical
equipment will be manufactured by BHEL's Hyderabad plant, while the
electrical equipment at its Bhopal plant.
Fabtech Projects & Engineers Ltd
Oil & Gas - Pipeline,

Pune based EPC company, Fabtech Projects & Engineers Ltd, has received
two major contracts worth

390 crore from the public sector companies Gas
Authority of India Ltd and IndianOil.
The

230-crore contract from GAIL is for installation of cross-country pipeline
from Coimbatore to Bengaluru with 24-inch diameter and 340-km length for
the transmission of natural gas from Kochi Terminal, while the

160-crore
contract from IndianOil is for creating LPG storage that involves construction
of LPG mounded storage system at various locations-five locations in North East, one in Central India and two in southern part-of the country.
Fabtech is executing the cross-country pipeline project for GAILin consortium
with Zangas, Russia, which will be providing the required technical services
for the project. The current order book of Fabtech is of

1,800 crore.
Siemens
Power - Electricity Distribution,
130 crore
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd will modernise its
electricity distribution management system. The state electricity distribution
company has placed a

130 crore order with Siemens for the same.
Apart from improving reliability of the distribution network and minimising
losses, the programme is a major step forward towards smart grid. Siemens
will manage the entire project in addition to the development, manufacture,
implementation and commissioning of SCADA/DMS (supervisory control and
data acquisition) control centres for eight cities such as Greater Mumbai,
Pune, Nashik, Amravati, Malegaon, Sangli, Solapur and Kolhapur. The
project is scheduled for commissioning by June 2013.

EPC major Tecpro Systems Ltd has received a letter of acceptance for an
order worth

119.7 crore from Andhra Pradesh Power development
Company Ltd for the 2x800-MW Sri Damodaran Sanjeevaiah thermal power
station near Krishnapatnam in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh.
The scope of work involves design, engineering, manufacturing, erection,
testing and commissioning of the complete external coal conveying system
and equipment to be installed between Krishnapatnam Port and SDSTPS
plant crusher house, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical control
and instrumentation works, for the 2x800-MW power plant.
In February 2009, Tata Projects Ltd was awarded the balance-of-plant
contract by APPDCL at a contract valued at

2,775 crore. The EPC work
involved basic and detailed design, engineering, manufacture, procurement,
supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of complete BOP
systems and equipment. The project was scheduled to complete in 36 and 39
months for Units 1 & 2 respectively.
McNally Bharat Engineering Company Ltd

66 crore from different clients. The orders are as follows:
- From Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd for erection, commissioning, etc, of
electrical system and plant illumination system for 53MW combined
cycle power plant at Leperkata, BCPL, Assam at a total contract value
of
4.94 crore.
- From Ideal Energy Projects Ltd, Nagpur, for design, engineering,
manufacture, assembly, testing at works and supply of mandatory spares
including transportation, etc for 1x270 MW unit at IEPL project near Bela
district in Nagpur, Maharashtra at a contract valued at
10.18 crore.
- From Damodar Valley Corporation for rendering operation support for CHP
of DSTPS, maintenance and evacuation of BOBR coalrakes at track
hopper, contract valued at
2.09 crore.
- A three years contract from Neyveli Lignite Corporation Ltd for
operation and maintenance of Lignite and Lime Handling System of
BTPP for
14.04 crore.
- From Essar Power Gujarat Ltd, for providing services for operation and
maintenance of Ash Handling System of 2x600MW Salaya power plants, at
a total contract value of
2.20 crore.
